2. What this is about
Familati is an app for families and friends: family tree, birthdays and memorial days, memories, wish lists, friend groups and gift ideas. We only process the data needed for this. There is no advertising and we never sell or pass on your data to advertisers.
3. Data we process
- Account: first name, last name, e-mail address, password (stored only as an encrypted hash), language, country, optionally gender and date of birth.
- Content entered by you or your family: people in the family tree (names, life dates, places, photos, life story), relationships, events, memories with photos, wish lists, reservations and contributions to group gifts, friend groups.
- Notifications: e.g. birthday reminders created by the server for you.
- Technical data: login tokens, device name, IP address and browser/app identifier at login, failed login attempts (abuse protection, deleted after 24 hours at the latest), server logs.
- Family package: purchase data (product, time, duration). Payment itself is handled by Google or Apple – we do not receive payment data such as card numbers.
- Gift ideas: anonymous counts of how often a product was viewed or added to a wish list (not linked to you).
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Providing the app and its features (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – contract).
- Security, abuse protection and error analysis (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest).
- E-mails required for the service, e.g. the password reset code (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Keeping purchase data as required by law (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
5. Who sees your data
- Family: members of a family see that family’s content according to their role. Private entries are only visible to their creator. Reservations stay secret for the person receiving the gift.
- Friend groups: group members see names, birthdays and the wish lists shared with the group – never family data.
- Hosting: our server runs at Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd.) as a processor.
- App stores: downloads, updates and purchases are also subject to the privacy policies of Google or Apple.
6. Partner links (gift ideas)
Some links to online shops are marked as partner links. If you buy through such a link, we receive a small commission; the price stays the same for you. We do not pass on personal data to the shop. Once you open the shop, its privacy policy applies (the shop may set cookies, for example).
7. Children
Parents can add children as people in the family tree. Children under 16 should only create their own account with their parents’ consent.
8. Retention
We keep your data as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted (see the page “Delete account”). Content that belongs to a family and is still used by other members stays in that family. Purchase data is kept as long as required by law.
9. Security
The connection between app and server is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are only stored as a secure hash. Photos can only be accessed by authorised family members through the app.
10. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can change or delete much of your data directly in the app; you can delete your account in the app or on the page “Delete account”. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
